North Korea's Korean Central News Agency reported today that the Politburo of the Workers' Party has decided to convene the 11th plenary session of the 8th Central Committee later this month.

The news agency said the party's political bureau announced that it would hold a plenary meeting to settle the party's and national policy enforcement this year and discuss and decide important issues that will lead to the full development of socialist construction next year.

North Korea presents the direction of state affairs in the new year through a plenary session of the party's central committee at the end of the year, and as this year's plenary session will be held just before the launch of the new Trump administration, attention is focusing on whether the results that can gauge the direction of U.S. policy will be released.

Earlier, at a plenary session held at the end of last year, Kim Jong-un declared inter-Korean relations as a hostile two-state practice rather than a fratricidal relationship, accelerating inter-Korean disconnection this year.
