The Seoul Central District Court acquitted Kim, secretary-general of the Public Human Rights Law Center at the Seoul National University Institute of Law, who was put on trial for perjury today (12th).
The court said it could not rule out the possibility that the main contents of the testimony could be consistent with objective facts, and explained that Kim had no motive to testify false.
Kim was put on trial in May 2020 on charges of false testimony to the effect that "Cho Min attended the 2009 seminar" as a witness in the trial of former professor Chung's alleged irregularities in the entrance examination of his children.
Earlier, the prosecution indicted Kim on perjury charges and asked for 10 months in prison, saying Cho Min did not attend the seminar.
