An Australian couple was arrested by police for raising about $60,000 Australian dollars and about 50 million won in our money by manipulating their young son's cancer fight.

According to foreign media such as the Australian News dot and the New York Post on the 16th (local time), the couple is accused of opening a crowdfunding page and requesting donations in the name of treatment costs, claiming that "a 6-year-old son has cancer."

The couple reportedly asked their co-worker, a hairdresser, to shave their son's hair and eyebrows in order to make it look like his child had cancer. He also put a bandage on his son's leg and put him in a wheelchair.

After opening a crowdfunding page, he posted a picture of the child and claimed it was "phase 1 eye cancer."

As the couple's story became known, about Australian dollars were raised in a short time.

It is known that even parents of friends, family, and private schools where their sons attend participated in the donation.

However, the couple was arrested on the 15th after it was discovered that the child was not receiving cancer treatment.

They have been charged with harmful and deceptive acts, and if found guilty, they face up to seven years in prison.
