The NEC explained that it decided to operate Article 254 of the Public Official Election Act in a way that broadly guarantees freedom of political expression in consideration of social change and the public eye level at a general meeting chaired by NEC Chairman Roh Tae-ak.
The NEC decided that the phrase "No Lee Jae-myung" does not correspond to the pre-election campaign, considering that "No Lee Jae-myung" is a simple political slogan, while the Constitutional Court's decision on the impeachment trial is still underway.
Earlier, Rep. Jeong Yeon-wook of the People's Power said on the 19th that he tried to post a banner saying, "Still, Lee Jae-myung can't do it," but he received a "no" policy from the NEC.
At the time, the NEC explained that it sanctioned phrases that would be interpreted as direct support and opposition to "scheduled candidates" in the face of the possibility of an early presidential election.
