The Wall Street Journal reported that at least 11 companies or organizations were found to have donated to Trump's inauguration among companies that declared a halt to donations during the 2021 congressional riot.
Ford Motor, Toyota Motor, software company Intuit, and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing (PhRMA) each donated $1 million, while Goldman Sachs, General Motors, Bank of America (BofA), AT&T, and Stanley Black & Decker were also confirmed to have donated large amounts.
Now, as each company lines up to look good to the new president, the Wall Street Journal noted, most of the companies' vows to "stop donating" have become an empty promise.
The inauguration fundraising is expected to exceed $107 million at the time of Trump's first inauguration.
President Biden's inauguration raised $61 million.
The Wall Street Journal said 18 companies donated more than $1 million during Trump's first inauguration in 2017, but this time it is expected to be more than that, and that 13 companies have confirmed so far.
Donors who have donated $1 million directly or raised more than $2 million from others will be given six tickets to participate in receptions with Cabinet nominees, a "candle dinner" with the Trumps, a ball and more.
Trump told Truth Social, a social network service, last week: "Everyone wants to be my friend!!I posted," he wrote.
