Both sides were present at the hearing preparation date, which is the first step today, right?
[Reporter]
Yes, the preparation period for the first hearing of President Yoon's impeachment trial is over.
Both the National Assembly and President Yoon's lawyers attended, and President Yoon did not appear at the trial because he was not obligated to attend today.
Judge Jeong Hyeong-sik, the chief judge, summarized the issues by examining the reasons for the impeachment of the National Assembly one by one.
The act of declaring martial law by President Yoon, the act of making him announce his proclamation through a martial law commander, and the act of mobilizing the military and police to block the National Assembly.
It also included the seizure and search of the National Election Commission without a warrant.
In addition to political figures, including Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Han Dong-hoon, former head of the People's Power, he also pointed out that he tried to arrest judicial officials through martial law.President
Yoon acknowledged the superficial facts that the emergency martial law was declared and the decree was announced.
Most of them delayed their responses, saying that specific details such as the progress of the martial law declaration and the minutes of the Cabinet meeting should be checked first.

President Yoon also pointed out the impeachment trial itself?
[Reporter]
Yes, President Yoon's side took issue with the starting point of this lawsuit, saying they would argue whether the impeachment trial request was legal.
The plan is to strictly follow the legal requirements of the impeachment trial.
In the meantime, he argued that the Constitutional Court's procedure for delivering documents was not legal.
Regarding the delay in the trial, he said that the preparation date was set quickly even though the lawyers had to prepare the lawsuit after sufficient defense was formed.
The court said it would fully reflect the requirements and proceed with the hearing, but said it should cooperate instead, and if not, it could sanction President Yoon.
The next preparation date for the 2nd hearing has been set at 2 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
After the preparatory hearing process is over, President Yoon met with reporters and said he could come out in person in future trials.
So far, I'm YTN Kwon Junsu at the Constitutional Court.
