A South Korea-U.S. joint investigation team visited Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, the site of the Jeju Air disaster, and began a full-fledged investigation by looking at the defense facilities that have emerged as major issues.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Air Rail Accident Investigation Committee formed a joint investigation team of 11 accident investigators and U.S. officials to investigate the runway site of Muan Airport.

There are eight U.S. officials, including one from the Federal Aviation Administration, three from the National Transportation Commission, and four from Boeing, the maker of the aircraft.

The joint investigation team will identify the situation on the ground, including whether the azimuth facilities outside the runway were properly installed and operated, while also checking communication records between the control tower and the aircraft.
