Related investigations are also accelerating after the government announced a strict response to online malicious posts mocking the Jeju Air disaster.

Police are tracking IP addresses with a search warrant, and it is expected to lead to criminal punishment soon.

[Choi Sang-mok / Acting President: The National Police Agency and other law enforcement authorities should take stern legal action on matters that damage the reputation of victims and their bereaved families through monitoring.]

After comments from the acting president, who called for a strong response to malicious Internet writing, police have set up a dedicated team to speed up the investigation.

The investigation team has been expanded to the cyber investigation unit of 16 metropolitan and provincial police offices nationwide, including the main office, as well as the Jeonnam Provincial Office, where the investigation headquarters is set up, and the number of people has increased significantly from 25 to 115.

Posts that the police have officially booked and are investigating are also being confirmed one after another.

I have already applied for a search warrant for some posts.

Three malicious writers about the victim, including one article that mocked the entire passenger and two posts criticizing the captain of the aircraft,
3 publishers who posted insults against the
bereaved family, etc.

Separately, dozens of posts are said to be under investigation for defamation and insults, and the number of people subject to the charges is expected to continue.

Posts about victims, including captains and passengers, are charged with defamation of the lion and could be sentenced to up to two years in prison or fined up to 5 million won,
Posts about the
bereaved family can also be punished for contempt.

[Na Won-oh / Jeju Air flight disaster investigation head: We have established guidelines that we will identify malicious comments and punish them much more strictly than usual]

While the police have already secured some IP addresses and have begun a forced investigation, such as tracking the authors of the posts, they will also strengthen monitoring of malicious posts.
