Mokpo Maritime Police immediately received a report and was dispatched to rescue 20 passengers along with fishing boats and civilian rescue ships.
All those rescued were taken to the hospital, one of whom died.
The Coast Guard is also continuing to search for the remaining two missing people.
At the time of the accident, strong winds of 8-12 meters per second were blowing in the sea near Gageodo Island, and the height of the waves was relatively high at 1-1.5 meters.
The Coast Guard will investigate the exact cause of the accident as soon as the rescue operation is completed.
