The bereaved family of the Jeju Air disaster "The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport investigates itself...independent investigation required"

The bereaved families of the Jeju Air plane disaster criticized the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's investigation into the cause of the accident as a "self-investigation" and urged a transparent and independent investigation.

In a statement today (4th), the bereaved family's delegation said that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which may be responsible for the disaster, formed its own investigation committee, and that current and former Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport officials participated in the investigation.

The delegation argued that for a fair investigation, a separate investigative body that guarantees neutrality and independence should be set up, or at least stakeholders should be excluded from the investigation.

He also called for fairness and transparency to be guaranteed by including experts recommended by bereaved families and civil society in the investigation committee and investigation team.
