Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Park Sang-woo has announced that he will resign to take responsibility for the Muan Airport plane disaster.

Minister Park said in a briefing today that he thinks it is right for the minister in charge to resign from his position for such an accident.

He said he would consider the timing of his resignation after considering the appropriate handling of the situation and the political situation, as the priority is to resolve the situation.

In addition, regarding the criticism that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is conducting a "self-investigation" on accidents that are highly responsible for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the chairman of the accident investigation committee from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said he will resign from today.

He also said that the current aviation policy chief of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, who is a standing member of the accident investigation committee, will be excluded from his work.

In addition, he said he would revise related laws and improve the system, including the reorganization of the committee's organization and personnel structure, to ensure fairness, objectivity and transparency in the investigation and to ensure the independence of the accident investigation committee.

Minister Park emphasized that the transparent and objective investigation is important to the evaluation of aviation safety in Korea by international organizations such as ICAO, and that it will be carried out strictly without any suspicion as it is essential for compensation for damage.
