In the aftermath of the increase in medical schools, the number of applicants for the medicine department increased by more than 3,000 from last year in the regular college admission for the 2025 academic year.

According to the data of Jongno Academy, 22,546 applications for medicine, including medical schools, dental schools, oriental medicine schools, and pharmaceutical colleges were applied for the regular recruitment for the 2025 school year, up 3,509 from last year.

The number of increases compared to the previous year was the highest in medical school with 2,421, followed by 588 in pharmacy, 266 in oriental medicine, and 234 in dental school.

The average competition rate was the highest at 10.5 to 1, followed by 9 to 1 for medicine, 6.6 to 1 for medical school, and 6.1 to 1 for dental school.

The highest competition rate among the pharmaceutical fields was Jeju National University Pharmacy, with 57 to 1, Dongguk University College of Oriental Medicine 25.1 to 1, and Gachon University College of Oriental Medicine 10.4 to 1.
