Former professional baseball player Jung Soo-geun, who was put on trial for injuring his acquaintance's head with a beer bottle while drinking, was sentenced to prison.

The Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court sentenced Jeong, who was charged with special injuries and drunk driving, to two years in prison and arrested him in court.

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "Jeong is showing remorse, but the risk of special injury is very high and he failed to agree with the victim," and that he reoffended and committed crimes during the repeat period even though he had a number of drunk driving and violence convictions.

Chung was put on trial in December 2023 on charges of injuring the victim by hitting him in the head with a beer bottle for refusing his third offer.

In September last year, he was caught drinking and driving in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, adding to the charge of drunk driving.
