It is an elementary school in Cheongju.
The small school, which has 18 students from all over the school, will receive two new students this year.
Although the number of new students has decreased from last year, the number of children scheduled to attend compulsory school in the neighborhood will continue to decrease, making it more difficult to receive new students in the future.
[Lee Yoon-jong / Cheongju Okpo Elementary School Head: I looked around the area to recruit new students, but there was no new student. Student, so there are no children. The problem in the future is not how to do well in school and be maintained, but because there is no student itself....]
Due to the decrease in the school-age population in the wake of the low birth rate, elementary schools in the province have significantly reduced the number of students scheduled to enter, and some schools are in a position to not receive a single student for the new semester.
In fact, as a result of this year's preliminary elementary school call, six schools will not hold entrance ceremonies in Chungbuk.
By
region, Chungju and Okcheon were one and Yeongdong and Danyang were two, respectively, and the number of schools that could not welcome new students increased from last year.
Cheongju-si, which has the largest number of students, also shows that 13 schools are expected to receive less than five new students this year, which is intensifying the decline in the school-age population.
[Park Young-kyun / Head of the Chungbuk Office of Education Administration: We have prepared a small school revitalization plan that actively reflects the opinions of the local community and parents.]
With the decline in school-aged children leading to regional extinction, the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education decided to close the Daejeong Branch of Okcheon Jeung Yak Elementary School in September, where the number of students has decreased every year.
