The Seoul Metropolitan Government said that the cumulative number of visitors to the "2024 Seoul Winter Festa," which was held from December 13 to the 5th last year, reached 5.39 million.

This is the result of tallying the number of visitors to six venues in downtown Seoul, including Gwanghwamun and Cheonggyecheon.

The average number of visitors per day was 224,000, up 19% from the 2023 festival (188,000).

The festival was partially reduced, postponed, and canceled due to the Jeju Air plane disaster, but it was held as a meaningful event to convey comfort and hope to citizens in a calm atmosphere, the city evaluated.

Seoul Winter Festa was introduced to major foreign media such as China's Xinhua News Agency, Japan's NNA, and Qatar's Al Jazeera as a "representative festival where you can enjoy a safe and vibrant winter in Seoul." ABC in the United States, the BBC in the United Kingdom, and AFP in France have focused on the bell-ringing event at the New Year's Eve.
