The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission said it received a report from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power that peggy was discharged into the ocean at around 10 a.m. today (12th) without going through a sample analysis stage.
KHNP reported to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission that it confirmed that the valve at the outlet was open during preparations to discharge liquid waste into the ocean at the time of the incident and immediately closed the valve to block leakage.
According to an analysis of the remaining samples in the tank, the concentration and the radioactivity emitted were at normal emission levels, and the radioactivity emission is estimated to be about 29 tons.
After receiving a report from KHNP, the Nuclear Safety and Technology Commission plans to send experts from the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute to the site to investigate the exact amount of leakage and the cause of the leakage, collect seawater near the nuclear power plant, accurately check the environmental impact, and disclose the results.
