European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is more likely to miss the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump on the 20th.

According to the EU and foreign media on the 12th local time, Commission President von der Leyen has not received an invitation to the inauguration ceremony, which is only about a week before the inauguration.

"If we receive an invitation, we will review it, but we have no plans to attend at this time," EU Commission chief spokesman Paula Pinho said at a regular briefing on the 10th.

The executive chairman of the Commission von der Leyen has not spoken directly with Trump since he first spoke on the phone on November 7 last year, shortly after the U.S. presidential election, the Commission said.

Analysts say that the failure to send any invitations to Trump's inauguration is a precursor to the discord between the EU and the United States, which was particularly close to the war in Ukraine during President Joe Biden's presidency.
