The government is conducting a joint inspection of airport runways and terminals across the country to ease public anxiety over the use of aircraft following the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.

Lee Han-kyung, head of the Disaster and Safety Management Division of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, said at a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters that a joint inspection will be conducted by the end of this month on the safety system of 11 national companies and major facilities such as runways and terminals at 15 airports.

Lee went on to say that special inspections of navigation safety facilities at airports across the country and special safety inspections of airlines with the same model as Jeju Air's plane crash aircraft were completed last week.

He added that the inspection results will be transparently disclosed so that the public can use the aircraft with confidence, and improvement measures will be prepared so that matters that can be taken immediately can proceed as soon as possible.
