The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that prohibits transgender people who switch gender to women from participating in women's athletics.

On the 14th local time, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the "Sports Women and Girls Protection Act" with 218 votes in favor and 206 against it.

The bill calls for revising Title 9, which prohibits gender discrimination in educational programs or activities in which government finances are invested, to recognize gender based only on reproductive organs and genes from birth.

U.S. President-elect Trump is also expected to sign after taking office on the 20th if the bill passes the Senate by pledging to ban transgender people from participating in women's sports during the election.

The Democratic Party, which has valued LGBTQ human rights, has expressed opposition to the bill, saying it does not protect women, but could be forced to conduct physical tests or violate privacy to prove that she is a woman.
