Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don, who violated the election law, was invalidated by the revocation of the repatriation trial.

Mayor Park Sang-don of Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, who is suspected of violating the Public Official Election Act, was also sentenced to invalidity of the election in a revocation trial.

The Daejeon High Court sentenced Mayor Park to six months in prison and two years of probation.

The court acquitted the Supreme Court of publicizing false information, which was destroyed and returned, but found him guilty of campaigning using his position as a public servant.

After the sentence, Mayor Park said, "I feel like there is a slight gap between the actual truth and the legal principles," adding, "We will consider it more and come up with future measures."

Mayor Park was put on trial in the 2022 local elections on charges of publicizing false information in election publications and mobilizing public officials to campaign.

The remaining defendants, including Cheonan City officials, who were handed over to trial together, were sentenced to probation and fined respectively by the Supreme Court.
