An increasing number of reverse immigrants are trying to clean up their long immigration life in the United States and spend their lives in Korea after retirement.
Chungcheongnam-do has begun to attract overseas Koreans in earnest to prevent local extinction due to population decline and revitalize the local economy.

It is a Korean town in Los Angeles, USA.
Among the overseas Koreans who have lived here for a long time, more and more people want to go back to Korea.
Last year, about 500 people hoped for early reverse immigration at an investment immigration briefing conducted by the Chungcheong Hyangwoo Association for Korean-Americans.
The biggest reason is that they want to spend a leisurely old age in their hometown after retirement.
[Paul Choi / Secretary General of the Chungcheong Hyangwoo Association: I think 70 to 80 percent of Koreans want to live with relatives in their hometowns while doing economic activities]
Chungcheongnam-do, Hongseong-gun, and Yesan-gun signed a business agreement with Korean-American companies to attract overseas Koreans.
We plan to discover joint projects to help domestic migration and settlement, and for this purpose, Koreans from Chungnam were appointed as ambassadors.
[Kevin Baik / CEO of a real estate company (Chungnam Honorary Ambassador): We want to promote and promote good infrastructure and social facilities in South Chungcheong Province so that Korean-Americans who want to immigrate can settle down well.]
This year, we will first move overseas Koreans using unsold apartments in Hongseong and Yesan areas, and in the long run, we will create a retirement village differentiated from the metropolitan area.
[Kim Tae-heum / Governor of Chungcheongnam-do: Chungcheongnam-do has cities, countryside, mountains and seas, so I think it is a good place for Korean residents in the United States to settle down. We will speed up the attraction of overseas Koreans and establish an optimal settlement base to create a retirement village for overseas Koreans.]
Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun also decided to help prepare infrastructure for the project site and discover support measures.
If the project is successfully carried out, it is expected to revitalize rural areas that are on the verge of extinction due to population decline.
