The Israeli government has finally approved the Gaza ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

Following the security cabinet meeting overseeing the war, a ceasefire proposal was approved at the entire cabinet meeting, despite opposition from some hardliners.

Following Hamas, Israel also approved a cease-fire, halting gunfire in Gaza in a year and three months.

In the coming days, the two sides plan to stop fighting for six weeks and discuss a three-step permanent ceasefire, exchanging 33 hostages held by Hamas with Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

The long-awaited families are looking forward to the successful release of the hostages in a phased manner.

[Sharon Lifshitz / Oldest hostage Oded Daughter] I will remain calm and embrace those who return. We will do our best to prevent fanatics on both sides from breaking this agreement.]

Refugees from Gaza, who fled to neighboring countries to escape the fire, are also ready to return home.

[Samira Ismail / Palestinian refugee in Gaza] The first thing you do is visit your son's grave. I'm going to go back and visit my son's grave first.]

U.N. relief trucks, which had been stopped by bombing and looting, were also ready to enter Gaza one after another.

Refugees in Gaza, tired of hunger and cold, eagerly look forward to the cessation of artillery fire and the return of peace.

[Reham Sheikh Al-Aid / Palestinian Refugee] I don't want the truce to go well so that we don't have to wait three hours for a bowl of food at the cafeteria anymore.]

However, some in the Middle East have voiced opposition to the ceasefire.

At an anti-Israel rally in Iran, participants condemned the cease-fire agreement as a "sign of defeat."
