The Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee of the Korea Consumer Agency said that as of the 17th, 46 travel agencies and PG companies, or 38 percent, replied that they would not accept the mediation proposal.
So far, only two accommodation companies have announced their acceptance positions, and the rest must notify the committee within this month whether they accept the mediation decision.
Earlier last month, the Dispute Mediation Committee announced a mediation plan that requires travel agencies and PG companies to cooperate to refund victims, limiting the scope of refunds to up to 90% of the payment amount and up to 30% for PG companies.
Last year, a total of 8,000 consumers bought travel-related products brokered by Timon and Wemakeff and went into collective dispute mediation because they did not receive a refund, and the damage amounted to 13.5 billion won.
