The Mokpo Coast Guard rescued a 217-ton Chinese fishing boat that caught fire 81 kilometers west of Gageodo Island in Sinan County, Jeollanam-do at around 5:50 p.m. yesterday.
There were nine people on the fishing boat, but no one was hurt.
The Coast Guard found out that a short circuit in the crew's bedroom caught fire.
The fire broke down the fishing boat's engine and made it impossible to sail on its own, so it was towed back to its home country by a nearby Chinese fishing boat.
