Seongnam City's proposal for free flu vaccination for the whole nation

Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, said it has proposed to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide free flu vaccinations to citizens of all ages nationwide.

Currently, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is implementing a free flu vaccination project for seniors aged 65 or older and children and adolescents between 6 months and 13 years old, and the city predicts that expanding to all ages will help prevent the spread of infectious diseases and improve public health.

At the same time, I explained the case of Seongnam City.

Seongnam City implemented a free flu vaccination project for all citizens from September 20, 2023, to April 30 last year, and the vaccination rate was 50%, up 13 percentage points from the same period (37%) last year.

By age group, the vaccination rate of the elderly aged 65 or older was the highest at 86%, followed by 73% for 6 months to 13 years old and 60% for 60 to 64 years old.

As the vaccination rate increased, the incidence rate decreased.

As of the end of last year, Seongnam citizens' flu incidence rate was 7.5%, lower than the national average flu incidence rate (7.9%), Gyeonggi Province (8.4%), nearby Suwon City (8.8%), and Yongin City (9.2%).
