Acting CEO Choi Sang-mok is the Korea Development Institute in Sejong City. He made the remarks at a meeting with the heads of five state-run research institutes, including KDI Director Cho Dong-chul, with ministers from related ministries.
"From now on, we are facing an important inflection point of shifting from pledge-based uncertainty to realistic policy risks," Choi said. "We need to mobilize all public-private industrial and commercial channels to communicate closely with the new U.S. government and continue the momentum for win-win economic cooperation."
In the process, state-run research institutes have teamed up with the government as think tanks to closely analyze the impact of the new U.S. government's policy changes on our economy and suggest effective countermeasures.
The heads of state-run research institutes said that while difficult exports are likely to increase downward pressure on the economy and intensify difficulties for the vulnerable, indiscriminate cash support has limited domestic demand and emphasized that customized selective support for the vulnerable is effective.
