Cryptocurrency market leader Bitcoin hit an all-time high just before the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump's return to the White House, but it has since fallen after no particular mention of the cryptocurrency in his inaugural address.
On the U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, Bitcoin reached a new all-time high, rising from $102,500 to $109,191 at once, about 10 hours before Trump's inauguration.
Expectations that President Trump would stockpile Bitcoin were at play, but the price of Bitcoin fell to $103,016 as of 4:50 p.m. Eastern time when there was no special mention in the inaugural address.
At the same time, No. 2 market cap Ethereum was up 2.34% at $3,306 and Ripple was up 0.70% at $3.11, while Solana and Dogecoin were trading 7.42% and 4.80% lower at $246 and $0.36.
Trump's MEMICO, which soared to $74.34 on the 19th, two days after its launch, also plunged to $36.6.
