The government has decided to fully expand the regular inspection system, which is currently being applied to Saeul Unit 2, to all nuclear power plants.

In addition, we decided to prepare a regulatory system for the introduction of next-generation nuclear power plants in advance and speed up the preparation of safety regulations necessary for the export of nuclear power plants.

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission announced this year's major work promotion plan and said it will push for six key tasks to create a society safe from nuclear accidents and radiation risks.

In order to expand the regular inspection of nuclear power plants, the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission will first come up with an inspection method to increase the effectiveness, such as establishing an in-depth inspection procedure conducted when abnormal signs or singularities of nuclear power plants are found within this year.

In addition, the government will start a safety review on the standard design approval for APR1000 nuclear power plants exported to the Czech Republic and preemptively establish a regulatory foundation for future nuclear reactors such as innovative small module reactors (i-SMR), which are being developed with the aim of applying for standard design approval next year.

In addition, in the wake of the radiation exposure accident at Samsung Electronics' Giheung Campus last year, we plan to improve regulations by requiring the safety information of radiation-using institutions to be reported to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission and imposing regular training obligations for radiation safety managers.
