Two Filipino housekeepers who went into hiding after leaving their accommodation without permission were caught in Busan last month.

They are said to have worked at accommodations in Busan where they can receive higher salaries, pointing out that the system needs to be supplemented.

Reporter Kwon Min-seok's report.

100 Filipino women who participated in the Seoul Metropolitan Government's pilot project for foreign domestic managers entered the country on August 6 to receive related education and help with childcare and housework in each family.

However, on the 15th of last month, only 12 days later, two housekeepers left the joint accommodation in Gangnam-gu.

The Ministry of Justice and the police came forward to find those who decided to stop contacting them.

After collectively tracking their whereabouts, they were arrested at a lodging facility in Busan in 19 days.

It is understood that the women have been working at the accommodation they were caught in.

The Ministry of Justice believes that they may have been promised more salary than housekeeping.

The Philippine housekeeper will receive 2.06 million won a month on an eight-hour basis by applying the minimum wage this year.

It was in the pilot project stage, so the employment period was only six months.

For this reason, it seems that they have not been able to resist the temptation of relatively high wages despite the risk of illegal stay and forced deportation.

The Ministry of Justice's Busan Immigration Office will investigate how they went down to Busan and the background of their employment before forcibly evicting them.

Based on this project, the government plans to inject 1,200 household managers next year, but as the scale grows 12 times, it remains a task to prevent the recurrence of unauthorized departure due to complaints about working conditions such as wages.
