Yesterday (20), a big fire broke out at an industrial machinery manufacturing plant in Wanggil-dong, Incheon, and 36 factories burned down to a nearby factory.

The police went on a joint inspection to determine the cause of the fire.

I'll connect you to a reporter.

Reporter Yoon Woong-sung, yesterday's fire must have caused a lot of damage, how is the situation at the site now?

[Reporter]
Yes, the scene of the fire yesterday is full of charred debris.

You can see the collapsed buildings and crushed containers, leaving only the frame.

Even parked vehicles are hard to identify.

A joint inspection is underway here this morning to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Scientific Investigation Team has been conducting a joint inspection at the fire site of the factory in Wanggil-dong, Incheon, with about 10 officials, including the National Forensic Service, since 10:30 a.m. today.

Officials wearing safety equipment can be seen looking around the site.

Police plan to focus on the cause of the fire at the industrial machine manufacturing plant where the fire first started and how it spread to the surrounding area.

Earlier, a fire broke out at a machine manufacturing plant in Wanggil-dong Industrial Complex, Incheon, at around 8:40 a.m. yesterday (20th).

Fire authorities issued the first stage of response in which all personnel and equipment from the competent fire department were dispatched within 30 minutes of the fire, and raised it to the second stage in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

All the lights were put out in 11 hours, but 36 factories and 70 buildings were burned to ashes as the flames spread in strong winds during the fire.

The damage seems to have increased because factories are attached to industrial complexes and most of them are easily burned, such as sandwich panels.

As most of the factories that caught fire are burned down, there are many cases where factory equipment and materials have not been recovered, so the damage to the owners is severe.

At the time of the accident, the fire was strong and smoke spread far away, causing damage to nearby residents.

More than 90 residents were evacuated in an emergency, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The Seo-gu Office of Incheon operates the Disaster Integration Support Headquarters and is aware of the current status of corporate damage such as lost goods and employees.

Based on the results of the investigation, we plan to come up with support measures.

We will inform you as soon as the results of the joint inspection, such as the specific cause of the fire, come out.
