Regarding the decision by the Economic, Social and Labor Commission to exempt civil servants from working hours, civil service unions protested that they were not guaranteed a full time-off.

The Federation of Korean Government Employees' Union and the Korean Government Employees' Union held a press conference in front of the Economic, Social and Labor Council yesterday (22nd) and claimed that the government has been unfaithful in its meeting with only a proposal of 30% of private unions.

They demanded that the government guarantee time-offs to the same level as the private sector, saying that the government is not accepting the characteristics of labor-management relations of civil servants, such as the government's union negotiating branches by department, ministry and agency.

In the process, three civil servants' union members, including Chairman Lee Chul-soo, staged a sit-in in front of the meeting room of the Economic, Social, and Labor Council. He was arrested as a current offender for refusing to comply with the police's request for eviction.
