Amid the increasing number of drug smuggling and bringing in harmful goods, equipment that can filter out illegal goods more efficiently is developed and put into the field.

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Customs Service said that since 2021, customs officials and researchers have participated together to develop seven technologies that are actually essential to the field.

The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has decided to develop a "scattering X-ray equipment" that can accurately select low-density substances, such as thinly spread drugs, and install it in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, where a lot of cargo from China comes in from next month.

In addition, we also localized one-way baggage search equipment installed at the entrance of government buildings or large corporations.

Search equipment that can accurately locate radioactive materials in containers from a distance and a system that can detect people or objects that suspects have in contact with artificial intelligence have also been developed.
