A large-scale additional investment by a high-performance battery producer in Ulsan has been decided.

With this investment, Ulsan City has attracted more than 5.6 trillion won in investment, especially in the secondary battery sector, since the 8th popular election.

It is expected to strengthen its position as a high-tech industrial center.

I'm reporter Ra Kyung-hoon from Ulsan Central Broadcasting Station, JCN.

Ulsan New General Industrial Complex.

Battery company DN Automotive produces automotive dustproof products and batteries here at a 48,000-square-meter factory.

The company decided to make a large investment in Ulsan City to set up an additional high-performance battery production plant.

DIN Automotive has signed an investment agreement with Ulsan City and decided to expand its plant worth 62.1 billion won.

[Kim In-hwan / CEO of DN Automotive: We export about 95% of our batteries. North America accounts for about 35%. The rest are Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, South America, and North America, all of which are being exported.

Under the agreement, a 6,600-square-meter AGM battery plant will be built on the site of Ulsan Plant 1.

AGM batteries are high-performance automotive batteries with long life and high discharge performance using absorbent glass fiber.

The plant, which is set to be completed next November, is expected to produce 1.5 million batteries a year, as well as contribute significantly to job creation and boosting the local economy.

[Kim Doo-gyeom / Ulsan Mayor: This investment has strengthened Ulsan's position as a secondary battery city. We will continue to implement a pro-business policy so that these high-tech materials companies can continue to invest in Ulsan.]

Ulsan was designated as a high-tech secondary battery specialization complex in July last year.

Ulsan City is strengthening its position as a high-tech industrial center by attracting a total of 5.6 trillion won in the secondary battery sector from the 8th popular election to this investment.
