The Seoul Western District Court fined President Kim 5 million won yesterday (7th) on charges of obstruction of justice.
The court explained that the responsibility for President Kim's assault on the police officer cannot be seen as light, but it considered the fact that the victim asked for forgiveness and appealed for leniency while reflecting on it after the crime.
When asked by reporters about his thoughts on the fine after the trial, President Kim answered briefly, "I'm sorry."
Earlier on June 17, President Kim was handed over to trial on charges of assaulting a police officer who was dispatched to report a drunken disturbance at an apartment in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and the prosecution demanded a six-month prison term and a one-year suspended sentence for Kim.
