A record-breaking first snow fell this winter, and a cold wave came, and the temperature rose over the weekend.

Freezing cold is predicted again next week.

At times like this, you should be careful of falls and cold diseases.

Reporter Lee Moon-seok reports.

From snow to icy roads to thin ice.

In winter, slip accidents increase rapidly.

The most basic way to prepare for a fall accident is to take your hands out of your pockets so that you can touch the floor immediately when you fall.

It can prevent serious injury by reducing the impact on the head or body.

For easy balance on slippery-looking roads, it's helpful to reduce your stride and bend your knees slightly.

It is best to wear shoes with high friction like hiking boots as much as possible and turn around the visible icy road as possible.

Nevertheless, don't get up all of a sudden when you slip and fall big, but first, let's take a breath and see if you're hurt.

Cold diseases such as frostbite and hypothermia are also uninvited visitors in winter.

Temperatures are expected to be similar to or slightly higher than usual this winter, and there is a high risk of cold diseases when the temperature suddenly changes like these days as well as cold waves.

[Ahn Yoon-jin / Director of Climate Health Risk Preparedness Division, Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Large temperature fluctuations can lead to a greater risk of cold diseases when the body becomes suddenly cold due to a decrease in adaptability to the body]

Elderly people and children who are vulnerable to maintaining body temperature should pay more attention to keeping warm with gloves, hats, and scarves.

In fact, 6 out of 10 cold disease patients who visited the emergency room last winter were over 60 years old.

Patients with cardio-cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure should also be careful not to be exposed to the cold suddenly because the symptoms can worsen if the temperature changes rapidly.

It is also advised to avoid drinking too much during the cold season as the ability to feel cold decreases when drunk.
