"No show after ordering 420 servings of combat food"... Investigation focused on fraud impersonating the military

As fraud cases of impersonating military executives against small business owners or small businesses have continued in many parts of the country, the police have decided to gather the cases together and investigate them intensively.

In some cases, 420 minutes of combat food, we ordered 8 million won worth of our money and went into hiding, and the police investigation is drawing attention.

Last October, a man who introduced himself as Sergeant Park ordered 1.7 million won worth of pork for a company dinner at a butcher's shop in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province.

[Sgt. Park / Last October 3rd: It should be enough for about 100 South Korean soldiers.]

However, Sergeant Park asked a certain company to pay 3.5 million won instead, saying he needed wine, and when he received the money, he went into hiding.

There has been no news of the arrest.

[Butcher to avoid fraud] It's serious. We also took out the money to cover the loan, but we have to make another loan....]

In Buyeo, South Chungcheong Province, no-show after ordering 400,000 won worth of group meals,

[Fraud victim restaurant owner: I called to wrap it up, but he didn't answer the phone.]

In Hanam, Gyeonggi-do, a military official ordered a shovel and asked for 420 servings of combat food and 8.4 million won worth of it, and lost contact with him only for money.

[Hardware owner: We need combat food, but we can't agree with our company.... When I checked it, it was a real company, so I sent it (the payment for combat food), but the scammers didn't show it.]

Nearly 80 cases of impersonating military executives targeting small business owners have been reported to 12 police metropolitan and provincial offices nationwide.

Accordingly, the police decided to designate the Gangwon Police Agency as an intensive investigation officer and collect cases of impersonating military officials across the country to conduct intensive investigations.
