Yeo In-hyeong, the commander of counterintelligence, was quoted as saying in a recent prosecution investigation that former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun mentioned the possibility of declaring an emergency martial law early last month.
At the same time, Commander Yeo reportedly stated that he knew that President Yoon Suk Yeol asked former Minister Kim for his opinion on martial law even if he did not attend overseas schedules such as the APEC summit.
Prior to this, the prosecution was also found to have secured a statement that martial law-related comments were made at a meal at the official residence and safe house in May and June.
