Cho Yong-soo, a professor of emergency medicine at Chonnam National University Hospital, expressed his disappointment on his Facebook page, saying, "We were fully prepared, but not a single person could be transferred."
"As soon as the request was made, the DMAT (disaster medical support team) was dispatched and gathered in the emergency room one after another to be fully prepared for critical care," he said. "No one could be transferred (by the way). Not a single person could be transferred," he said.
"Even those who had to return to the hospital couldn't return in the end," he said, "and they collapsed." I pray for the rest of the deceased," he said in memory of the victims of the accident.
Netizens who heard Professor Cho Yong-soo's article sympathized with his sadness and expressed their consolation.
One netizen said, "My heart hurts beyond words, but I hope you cheer up." Another netizen said, "I'm sad that no one can come and save (the patient) even though I'm ready to save (the patient) and I have enough ability."
Meanwhile, Professor Cho appeared on the recently aired tvN entertainment show "You Quiz on the Block" and shared the story of miraculously saving high school teacher Kim Yong-gyu, who was in cardiac arrest due to a lightning accident, and drew sympathy from viewers.
