The new president of the Korean Medical Association, the largest medical organization, will be elected today.

The final round of the presidential election of the Medical Association, which has been held since yesterday, will end at 6 p.m. today, and the results of the vote will be announced around 7 p.m.

The winner will be determined between Kim Taek-woo, president of the National Council of Metropolitan and Provincial Doctors, and Joo Su-ho, president of the Future Medical Forum, who ranked first and second among the five candidates in the first round.

Both are classified as hardliners in the government, and the struggle in the medical community is expected to continue for the time being no matter who becomes it.

The new chairman will lead the medical association until April 30, 2027, the remaining term of former chairman Lim Hyun-taek, who was impeached amid controversy over his rude talk.
