The Seoul High Court recently ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by Jeong against the Korean Association of Athletics Federations to confirm that no disciplinary action exists.
The court judged that Chung was dismissed from disciplinary action based on the evidence submitted by the Korean Association of Athletics Federations, and that it constitutes dismissal of his position, which is a kind of personnel action or personnel order.
In November 2020, when some of the national marathon runners Jeong was in charge of left their accommodation without permission during the training camp and drove under the influence of alcohol, the Korea Athletics Federation dismissed Jeong from his position, holding him responsible for negligent management of the team.
Jeong filed a lawsuit to confirm the nullification of his dismissal, saying it was an act of deviation beyond the leader's personal capacity, but the first trial ruled against the plaintiff, saying that Jeong was responsible.
Then, Jeong changed the purpose of the claim to confirm that there is no disciplinary action for dismissal, not invalidation of dismissal at the second trial.
