Last year was recorded as the hottest year in the history of the planet, indicating that the 1.5 degree Celsius mark targeted by the Paris Agreement to limit temperature increases had collapsed.

The European climate watchdog Copernicus analyzed last year's temperature to be 1.6 degrees Celsius higher than pre-industrial times, with the Japanese Meteorological Agency at 1.57 degrees and the British Meteorological Agency at 1.53 degrees.

Last year was the first year that various institutions analyzed that the global average temperature exceeded the 1.5 degree mark.

If climate change exceeds 1.5 degrees Celsius, there are concerns that the Antarctic's ice layer will melt, sea levels will rise, and natural disasters and biodiversity collapses will lead to the Earth's ecosystem falling into an irreparable state.

Scientists judge whether the 1.5-degree target is achieved by the 20-year average temperature, and the recent increase in temperature is 1.3 degrees compared to pre-industrial times.
