At a plenary session of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee today (13th), Court Administration Minister Cheon Dae-yup said one of the ways to resolve the legal controversy over the civil war investigation is to conduct the investigation from scratch through the Special Prosecutor Act.
Minister Cheon said he had raised questions about the investigative agency's right to investigate rebellion, not the police, but added that it is right from the perspective of the rule of law to respect it until the conclusion is changed at the higher court as the warrant was issued.
He also said that the six opposition parties are very embarrassed in terms of political neutrality, objectivity, and independence of the judiciary when it comes to recommending candidates for special prosecution.
However, if the ruling and opposition parties consult with each other and legislate the independent counsel law smoothly and play such a role, they said they had no choice but to respond as the judiciary as it is a constitutional authority.
