Police plan to book a restaurant employee for 'Yatap-dong shopping mall fire'

Police investigating the fire at BYC Building in Yatap-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, will book a restaurant employee on the first floor who caused the fire.

Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi Province is investigating a 50-year-old employee of a gimbap restaurant on the first floor of the building on charges of inadvertently setting fire while cooking.

A is suspected of causing a fire by neglecting to operate while cooking using a fryer in the kitchen of the restaurant at around 4:40 p.m. on the 3rd.

As a result of the inspection, it was investigated that the fire caused by the overheating of the fryer in the kitchen of the kimbap restaurant was transferred through the exhaust duct and caused the fire.

Earlier on the 3rd, a fire broke out in a shopping mall building in Yatap-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and more than 310 people were evacuated, and 35 people were treated for inhaling smoke.
