In a press conference today (14th), China's National Immigration Service said that 21,15,000 foreigners entered the country last year with visa exemptions, up 112% from the previous year.
He added that the number of foreigners entering China has increased by 29.5% month-on-month since the full implementation of the transit visa waiver policy in December last year.
"In the future, we will further expand institutional openness and increase visa exemptions to make it more convenient for foreigners to visit," a National Immigration Service official said.
Last year, China expanded visa waivers for tourist visits to 38 countries, including South Korea, and exempted 54 countries from visas for up to 10 days when transferring or traveling to China.
