Prosecutors have demanded a seven-and-a-half-year prison term for a driver of a reverse driving accident at Seoul City Hall Station that killed nine citizens in July last year.

The prosecution asked the court to serve seven and a half years in prison today (15th) at the final trial of Mr. Cha held at the Seoul Central District Court hearing.

The prosecution pointed out that lives were lost in everyday spaces and bereaved families were living in pain, but Cha continued to deny the crime and had a poor attitude.

He also explained that while it is appropriate to seek a more serious sentence in light of the seriousness of the crime and the degree of damage, the upper limit of the punishment sentence under the law is 7 years and 6 months.

Punishment is a statutory sentence, which is a sentence prescribed by law, and is the scope of a sentence that has been aggravated or reduced in court.

In response, Cha said in his final statement that he did not think he had acted stupidly by pedaling the wrong pedals while getting on and off more than 1,000 passengers a day as a city bus driver.

The sentencing date for Cha is the 12th of next month.

Cha is accused of driving out of an underground parking lot near City Hall Station at around 9:30 p.m. on July 1 last year and rushing into the sidewalk, killing nine people and injuring five others.
