After a general meeting of lawmakers at the National Assembly, floor leader Kwon Sung-dong told reporters that all 108 members of the ruling party agreed to sign the emergency martial law and propose it as a party.
"In principle, it is not necessary to introduce a special prosecutor when the investigative agency is not expected to be fair, and the prosecution, police, and the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit are competitively investigating, but lawmakers agreed to the idea that the worst is better than the worst at a time when the Democratic Party is trying to pass an unconstitutional and toxic special prosecution law."
He also added that he thought he would do it tomorrow after looking at the situation regarding the timing of the special prosecution law's proposal.
The martial law special prosecution law targeted the president's alleged control of the National Assembly and attempts to paralyze the NEC's functions during the emergency martial law, excluding foreign exchange and civil war incitement and propaganda charges included in the existing opposition-proposed special prosecution law.
