The YTN report confirmed that Kim Sung-hoon, deputy head of the presidential security service, returned to security shortly after he was released after the prosecution rejected the arrest warrant.

Deputy Chief Kim said he will stay in the detention center for the next 24 hours to protect President Yoon Suk Yeol who was arrested.

Reporter Lee Hyun-jung's exclusive report.

[Reporter]
On the afternoon of President Yoon Suk Yeol's arrest, Kim Sung-hoon, deputy head of the bodyguard, appeared at the Seoul Detention Center.

He was put on the verge of arrest for obstructing the arrest of President Yoon, and immediately visited the scene where the president was imprisoned immediately after he was released after the prosecution rejected the warrant.

Kim, who met with YTN reporters, said he returned to the presidential security service as soon as he was released.

[Kim Sung Hoon / Deputy Chief of Security: (What brought you here today?) I'm here for security since the president is here. (Did you return to security from now on?) Yes. (As Deputy Chief of Security?) Of course, yes.]

He said he will protect the president for the next 24 hours and continue to protect First Lady Kim Gun-hee in his official residence.

[Kim Sung-hoon / Deputy Director of the Presidential Security Service] (Will the deputy head of the department stay in the detention center for 24 hours from now on?) Yes, he will do almost that. (Is it the same for the official residence?) It's the same. [Since she's here?]

It means acting as the security chief of a vacancy and continuing to exercise command over the security office

It is very unusual in light of the security service practice that has been dismissed ex officio when an investigation into an employee is initiated.

Earlier, the prosecution rejected the arrest warrant requested by the police for Deputy Chief Kim on the grounds that President Yoon's arrest warrant was executed, making it unlikely to repeat the crime and there is no fear of running away, but the security office seems to be difficult to understand.

As Deputy Chief Kim is suspected of excluding employees or ordering the search for media informants, saying he did not follow orders at the time of execution of the arrest warrant, there are concerns that he may try to pressure or talk to employees to eliminate unfavorable evidence in the future.

The police investigation into the command of the security office has also inevitably been disrupted, and the police special investigation team also responded that they cannot understand that the prosecution rejected the warrant despite concerns about the destruction of evidence.

A special team official explained that as the allegations have been fully clarified, they are also considering reapplying for a warrant for Deputy Chief Kim after a reinforcing investigation.
