The Ministry of Environment said it issued emergency reduction measures as smog added to the atmospheric congestion, causing ultrafine dust concentrations to soar to four times the usual level in the Midwest, and high concentrations are expected to remain in the Midwest today.
The target areas are the metropolitan area, Yeongseo, Gangwon-do, Sejong, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk, and the implementation time is from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. today. If emergency reduction measures for
high concentration of fine dust are taken, a two-day vehicle system will be implemented in public institutions from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and shorter operating hours of air emission workplaces and construction sites and schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers will be recommended to close or shorten classes.
