Yoon Suk Yeol's lawyers argued that a series of attempts by the high-ranking government official's criminal investigation office to force President Yoon to arrest him constitutes a serious illegal investigation.

The lawyers said in a statement that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit sent prosecutors and investigators to the Seoul Detention Center from the day before yesterday (20th) to today (22nd) to try to force President Yoon into custody.

He then explained that although the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit says it is possible to seek compulsory arrest based on the Supreme Court precedent, forcibly arresting a suspect who exercised the right to refuse to state statements violates the right to refuse to state statements guaranteed by the Constitution.

In particular, he said that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit stopped interviewing lawyers and tried to forcibly recruit President Yoon, preventing him from exercising his defense rights properly at a time when he was concerned about the rough-and-ready hearing of the impeachment trial.

The lawyers said that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit's irrationality is to admit to the Democratic Party's "subject investigation," adding that they hope to comply with the minimum judicial procedures.
