The Constitutional Court held an open hearing at 10 a.m. today on behalf of the National Assembly, which was filed by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik against Acting President Choi.
The National Assembly's representative argued that there was no agreement between the ruling and opposition parties on the legal requirements for the appointment of judges, and that Choi's refusal to appoint judges on the grounds of practice was a violation of his authority.
On the other hand, Choi refuted that the president's appointment as a constitutional judge is difficult to see as a duty that must be made due to the interpretation of constitutional regulations.
At the end of this hearing, the Constitutional Court decided to end the hearing process and set a later date and notify it.
Earlier, acting Choi suspended the appointment of only Cho Han-chang and Jung Chi-seon, who were recommended by the ruling and opposition parties, respectively, among the three candidates for the National Assembly's elected judges, and Ma Eun-hyuk, the opposition party's candidate, will be appointed immediately if the ruling and opposition parties' agreement is confirmed.
